Head of the Computer-Assisted Drug Design Unit
Dr. Hamutal Engel is a computational chemist who joined the BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery after working as a scientific programmer at the department of particle physics and astrophysics in the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Hamutal earned her B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D at the Bar-Ilan University. Her Master degree was in the field of Theoretical Chemistry, in which she developed a semi-classical approximation for the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients, under the supervision of Prof. Keneth Kay. Her doctoral studies were in the field of computational chemistry, under the supervision of Prof. Dan Thomas Major. In the framework of her study she developed a method for the computation of nuclear quantum effects in bio-chemical reactions via path integral calculations, the developed method is now in stages of implementation in the development version of the CHARMM simulation program.
After Graduating she continued working with Prof. Major as a postdoc, expanding the developed method for quantum modeling of Lithium Ions in Lithium butteries.
Dr. Engel is an experienced computational chemist in the application and development aspects. Hamutal was involved in a wide variety of computational science projects, by which she gained experience and knowledge.
Her work was published in 7 articles, for the full publication list on Google Scholar, click here.
