Sudha Shankar received her Bachelor's in Pharmacy from Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur, India and Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Banasthali University, Rajasthan, India. After completing her Masters, she joined CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, India as a DST- INSPIRE Research Fellow for Ph.D. programme under the supervision of Dr. Rajkishor Rai in Medicinal Chemistry Division.
During her PhD work, she was awarded for Newton-Bhabha Short-term Fellowship at Imperial College London, UK and worked under the supervision of Prof. Rongjun Chen on “Development of Peptide Conjugate based Drug Delivery Agent for Anticancer Drug Delivery”. Her PhD thesis was based on "Conformational Studies of ab/ag Hybrid Peptides and Biological Evaluation of Natural Product-Amino Acid/Peptide Conjugates".
After that she was awarded for prestigious Newton International Postdoctoral Fellowship by Royal Society and Academy of Medical Sciences, UK to work on “Total synthesis of Bottromycin and their Analogues using Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis” at School of Chemistry, University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK with Prof. Andrew Jamieson.
Currently she is working with Prof. Ehud Gazit in the Medicinal Chemistry Unit of Blavatnik Center of Drug Discovery as Postdoctoral Fellow. Her current research interests involve in design and synthesis of novel molecules, resolving challenging synthetic problems and ADME, SAR analysis. Also, her work includes synthesis of peptides and to explore aggregation propensity.
