Two years of establishment
The BCDD mission is to break out with discoveries into the world of applied research
The BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery (BCDD) is celebrating its two-year anniversary. The Center, established on May 2016, is working to complete a missing link in the process of making a scientific discovery of an effective drug.
The BCDD is one of five research centers established at Tel Aviv University as part of the Blavatnik Initiative of the Blavatnik Family Foundation, and under the patronage of Prof. Klafter, the President of TAU. Here in the BCDD biology, chemistry and computer science are practiced under one roof to advance our knowledge and capabilities in drug discovery and development.
Breaking out into the world
The development of a new drug is a long and complex process involving high costs. Many important discoveries originating from excellent labs across our campus and other research institutions throughout the country may serve as a basis for the development of innovative drugs for various diseases, but most of these discoveries remain in academic circles and fail to break out into the world of applied research. Of funding, equipment, logistics and scientific cooperation, to take them one step further, which is precisely the task of the Bellotnik Drug Discovery Center.
