Congratulations to Sivan Louzoun Zada, Bar Ben Baruch, Luba Simhaev Ischakov, Hamutal Engel, and Prof. Micha Fridman, for their new paper.
The article "Chemical Modifications Reduce Auditory Cell Damage Induced by Aminoglycoside Antibiotics" was published in JACS (Journal of the American Chemical Society).
Dr. Luba Simhaev Ischakov, a Blavatnik fellow from the computer-aided drug design unit at the BCDD, performed molecular dynamics simulations to study how modified aminoglycosides influence the essential freedom of movement of ribonucleotides, in their ribosomal target site.
The study demonstrated experimentally and computationally that chemical modifications could improve ribosomal selectivity, as well as reduce plasma membrane permeabilization of auditory cells.
