Research Fellow (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, drug discovery)
The BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery is a fully integrated facility for drug discovery and development, based at Tel Aviv University. The center comprises various units under one roof, providing support for early-stage drug discovery and translating academic innovations into new drug candidates
The BLAVATNIK CENTER offers cutting-edge technology and equipment to facilitate high-throughput screening and experiments. Our center specializes in:
- High-throughput screening (cell-based and enzymatic)
- Assay development for optimizing assay conditions to allow precise hit detection
- High-throughput live-cell imaging and high-content image analysis
- Validation of the biological activity of drug-like molecules on target proteins and cells using various direct and indirect methods
The center serves groups across Tel Aviv University as well as other research institutions and industries worldwide. Offering the necessary equipment and expertise, the BLAVATNIK CENTER advances lab research breakthroughs to the stage where they are ripe for later-stage development.
The BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery research fellowship benefits early career scientists by providing the skills and experience required to further their careers in the research and drug discovery fields and industry.
Job duties:
- High-throughput screening in cell-based and enzymatic assays
- Cell-based and enzymatic assay development and validation
- Designing advanced experiments and executing protocols
- Documenting and presenting experimental results in a professional manner
- Participating in collaboration with other biological scientists within the academic community
- Critically evaluating scientific results
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- At least an MSc in a relevant field, with a preference for a PhD
- A strong background in molecular biology with hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology
- Experience with cell culture
- Organizational skills for managing numerous projects and setting priorities
- Self-motivation and a dedicated approach to delivering high-quality results
- Good communication skills in English, including strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

- A strong background in molecular biology and performing hands on experience in cell and molecular biology
- Organizational skills: dealing with numerous projects, setting priorities and meeting deadlines

- Motivation to carry out innovative, high-quality scientific work in joint industrial-academic setting and publish in high-impact journals
- The ability to work individually (independently) as well as experience in dealing with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
- Good communication skills in English, strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
